According to authorities on Friday, Sergey Batrin, a member of parliament, set off three hand grenades during a local gathering in the Transcarpathia area of Ukraine.
According to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, the incident occurred in the Keretskivska village council building in the Mukachevo area and injured 26 council members, six of whom were critically injured.
At the scene, criminal investigators, explosives specialists, and the police investigative-operational group are hard at work.
The event was classified as “terrorist” and an inquiry has been opened, according to a statement from the Ukrainian Security Service. The event allegedly happened during the Keretskivska village council meeting’s budget discussion in 2024, during which certain budgetary concerns were voiced.
