A body has been recovered following the collapse of a septic tank on Sunday beneath an unlicensed football viewing hall in the Bamburi Mwisho area of Nyali Constituency, Mombasa County.
The deceased, identified as 54-year-old Abdallah Aziz Abdallah, was retrieved at approximately 12:49 a.m. today. This marks the first recovery from the site since the incident occurred over the weekend.
The body has been taken to the Coast General Teaching and Referral Hospital morgue, where it awaits a postmortem and further examination.
Initial investigations indicate that the viewing hall was an unauthorized structure, lacking a valid operating permit.
According to Mombasa County Chief Fire Officer Ibrahim Basafar, the septic tank was estimated to be about 120 feet deep.
