The County Government of Mombasa has commissioned the Mama Ida Odinga ECDE and Daycare Centre, marking another milestone in its efforts to strengthen early childhood education across the county.

The new facility is expected to provide a safe and conducive learning environment for young learners while supporting working parents through quality daycare services.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, county leaders reaffirmed their commitment to investing in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE), noting that access to quality education during a child’s formative years plays a critical role in shaping future generations.
The county also announced that ECDE enrolment has now reached 13,131 learners, a significant milestone that reflects growing confidence among parents in the county’s investment in early learning infrastructure and education services.
Officials said the county will continue constructing and upgrading ECDE centres, equipping classrooms
with modern learning materials, and employing qualified teachers to ensure every child has access to quality education.
The commissioning of the Mama Ida Odinga ECDE and Daycare Centre forms part of the county’s broader agenda of improving education, expanding access to childcare services, and giving every child a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
Education stakeholders have welcomed the initiative, saying increased investment in ECDE is essential in nurturing children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development while preparing them for primary education.
